NTC was built in 1988 by the CMF
Kenya/Maasai team. It is the central place for CMF’s ongoing work with
the Maasai. The Manager is Walter Mwamboki with Jackson Meingati as
Assistant. Ongoing activities at this site include leadership
training, seminars, youth camps, development courses,
NBTI classes, a
local church, food distribution in drought, and community meetings. There are 10 primary buildings, 2 large
warehouses, and numerous small structures that cater to the people and
programs at this location. A full-time staff of 7 people is needed to
handle the volume of people and events that make use of NTC. It is also
the most recognized facility of CMF anywhere in Kenya.
As a conference facility for hire to
outside groups, good income is being generated as NTC works toward
self-sustainability. Expansion and remodeling of facilities and
equipment has begun to make NTC more attractive to outside groups for
hire, as well as meet the growing needs of current programs.
