Started in 2003, NBTI's central goal is to train Christian leaders with a burden to serve Christ.  John Sosio is the Principal, with a Kenyan Board of Directors meeting twice a year to review budget, set policy, and discuss major issues of the Institute.  Classes meet for 3 weeks at a time in January, April, July, and October.

Teaching is offered at 3 levels – Basic (Maasai language), Advanced (English), and Audit. Upon graduation from the 2-year course of study, those in the Advanced Program are eligible to apply to the Nairobi Great Commission School for a full 2-year Associate Degree in Bible and Ministry.
