Lynn and Dori Cazier returned to Kenya in June 2006, after completing a 1–year furlough in the States, reporting to supporting churches and individuals. They originally arrived in Kenya January 9, 2003, and have served on the CMF Maasai team since then. They have 3 girls: Crystal (1988), is in her 2nd year at the University of Illinois; while Leslie (1990), and Cara (1995) continue at Rosslyn Academy, an international missionary school in Nairobi, where the family resides. Lynn resumes his roll of helping Maasai congregations plan and construct church buildings. There are many Maasai congregations desiring to construct permanent stone structures, which only about ¼ of the 75-80 CMF-affiliated congregations in Maasailand now have. When a congregation is ready to build, they must submit a plan and a budget. Building costs are shared with local churches contributing 20%, or more (depending on the size of structure), while CMF contributes 80% up to a maximum amount of approximately $7800. Maasai congregations are currently raising their portion of funds faster than CMF, waiting patiently on the Lord until CMF donors raise sufficient funds to provide the Mission’s share. Other responsibilities include maintaining CMF mission property in bush (rural) locations and coordinating development projects in Maasailand. Completion of a water project and medical clinic at Kumpa; and clinic staff housing at CMF’s main Ewaso Ngiro Health Center have been done. We soon hope to have electricity installed at our two CMF training centers at Ewaso Ngiro and Ng’atataek, as well as the Ewaso Ngiro Health Center. Making significant progress on a new, improved water system at Ewaso Ngiro is also a priority over the next two years. Dori oversees the Maasai “Kids to Kids” Project. Through this program, Vacation Bible Schools and children’s Sunday School classes in United States churches are able to meet needs of Maasai children. So far, “Kids to Kids” has funded sitting/writing benches for a school where children were previously sitting on the floor; construction of a kitchen for the school; and provided some sports equipment. We are soon to begin improving the water system at the school. Dori has also been selected as our Kenya Field Team (KFT) chair for this year. The KFT provides fellowship, general oversight, and policy–making for all CMF missionaries in Kenya. She also assumes primary responsibility for correspondence with supporting churches and individuals along with meal preparations for when Lynn travels alone or with a team. This is a challenge when there are no grocery stores in the bush and fast food restaurants are non-existent! The Cazier family is carrying out a very needed role on the team for which God is to be glorified! | ||||
